Thou Shall Not Text the Boy!

After recently reading an article from the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, I thought that the topic I am about to bring up is a great one when it comes to potential dating and boys.

Texting.

The article that I read said that:

“Thou Shall Break the Text Habit- You’re not in high school, so stop passing notes. If you do, he may actually call you”

But, it is hard! It seems that all boys want to do these days is text. And then, there are even rules to these texting things, things that have to be considered like do I text back right away or give it some time. How long is too long of a text message? The length thing is one that has gotten me. I have had numerous boys tell me that I text a lot and super long. I say if you had picked up your phone to begin with I wouldn’t have to text so long. Now, the texting a lot thing is because how am I supposed to know if you got the text or not? If you don’t respond I will continue to text until I get a response. I know you’re by your phone 24/7 because when I’m with you I see you glued to your phone. But, I guess if I had followed the “Thou Shall Break the Text Habit” rule maybe I would not be in that predicament of waiting to receive a text back.

But what about those boys who schedule dates through text? Seems a little shady to me. If I am important enough to be asked out then I am important enough to receive a phone call aren’t I? Yes I am!

And this Facebook nonsense, how can we have a full on Facebook wall to wall chat but you don’t even have my number? You say you want to make plans to do something over our Facebook wall chat but as soon as I give you my number do you use it? No, you do not. We just continue in a never-ending Facebook wall chat that leads to nothing. Sigh

I wish we could go back to the olden days where boys had to pick up the phone to call you and there wasn’t voicemail so if he said he was going to call at a certain time or vice versa both parties would be at the phone. Sadly that is not the case and we have text messaging and Facebook to add onto our already difficult time of finding decent boys to date. So, I think we should all follow the Millionaire Matchmakers advice and break the text habit and Facebook one too!
